Conventional

These are the regular brackets and wires that you see most people with. Braces are worn for 12 to 30 months and patients progress through stages of wires. Elastics are often worn as part of treatment throughout. Our team will help you with tooth brushing and dietary advice and we will answer all the questions you have throughout. Once active treatment is complete, retainers must be worn to avoid movement of teeth.

Self Ligation

Braces work on a simple principle – your teeth are attached to a curved wire running along the outside face of your teeth. The wire pulls your teeth into proper alignment by applying consistent pressure. This wire is connected to your teeth not directly, but by brackets that grip your tooth on one side, and the wire on the other.
Traditional braces are tied in with elastics, which can cause friction and pressure, potentially making treatment slower and less comfortable. Damon braces use a slide mechanism to hold the wire, which allows teeth to move more freely, quickly and comfortably. With Damon tie-less braces you can experience treatment without tightening. The Light high-technology shape-memory wires move teeth faster, more comfortably and require fewer adjustments.

Stainless Steel Brackets

Stainless steel metal brackets are easily recognised and are widely used in the treatment of patients in all age groups. Their robustness makes them suitable for most courses of treatment. The manufacturers have been making them smaller and decreasing the profile of these metal brackets. They include higher treatment efficiency, decreased friction, decreased appliance breakage (due to increased bond strength) and superior fit or seating. These metal brackets can be customised with colour elastics to make them more aesthetically pleasing

Ceramic Brackets

Translucent or tooth coloured aesthetic fixed brackets appeal to patients in view of their less obtrusive appearance. These are made from a ceramic material and differ from plastic (polycarbonate) brackets in terms of their durability, colour stability, strength and overall performance throughout the treatment. Not all tooth coloured brackets are ceramic. Fixed braces can be made totally white by utilising ceramic brackets, white or tooth coloured arch wires and non-staining ligature wires, and this means that your appliance is virtually invisible.

Damon Clear

Damon Clear Braves are available from skilled orthodontists, they combine the best of traditional clear braces to deliver a discrete treatment experience with results that go beyond straight teeth. Damon Clear combine tieless braces with high technology arch wires that are clinically proven to move teeth comfortably with truly spectacular smile and facial results. Damon Clear Braces use tooth-coloured brackets to make the low-profile Damon effect even more discreet.

Lingual

Incognito braces are fixed appliances bonded behind the teeth, making them invisible to others even when you speak or smile. Unlike some other lingual brace systems, Incognito brackets and arch wires are custom made to fit your mouth which allows for the braces to fit very neatly and comfortably. Once fitted you will need to visit the practice every six to eight weeks to check how your treatment is progressing and to make any necessary adjustments to the wire. The full course of treatment will take between 12 and 24 months.

Incognito braces

Incognito braces are among the most discreet braces available. These braces are lingual – meaning that they are fitted to the back, not the front, of the teeth. They are practically invisible in everyday life, so you can improve your smile without needing to feel self-conscious about it. Created using the latest technology, Incognito Braces are the only invisible braces that are 100% customised to the shape of your teeth and to your individual dental situation to assist your orthodontist in creating your new smile. Many patients start to notice results they want to show off within a matter of months.
